Clean Start

A few months ago, I happened upon for a Kijiji ad for a brand new LG gas dryer that had never been used.  It was an amazing price and we snapped it up even though our dryer, although very old, was working fine.

A few days ago, our washer stopped agitating, and as its age matched that of our old dryer, we decided to replace it with the counterpart to our new dryer.

Having new appliances is almost embarrassingly exciting for me.  With five of us in our household, (two under two), there is a lot of laundry to be done in our house. Unfortunately,  the new washer and dryer have only emphasized the dismal state of our laundry room.  It truly is the worst room in our house; unfinished walls and roof, a mess of electrical and plumbing, old random cabinetry and an ugly uneven floor, none of which inspire the domestic goddess in me.

Someday, I will have a sparkling home fit for our new LG pair, with maybe even a multi-purpose room with little craft and workout area.

These are some of the laundry rooms I have seen that I’m saving as inspiration:

sr laundry 2 from Sarah Richardson Design

Srlaundry-room-b from Sarah Richardson Design

mudroom_1 CHH from Canadian House & Home

Hampton Design Laundry from Hampton Design

Green-Red-Laundry-Room- CL from Country Living

Don’t these look like some rooms you wouldn’t mind hanging out in for awhile?  Folding, ironing and hand-washing  could easily become new hobbies in such beautiful spaces as these.
